"Der große Kulturfahrplan" (The Timetables of History: A Horizontal Linkage of People and Events)
is an interactive Eenzyklopedia from prehistoric times to present.
This is a hybrid CD-ROM for PC & Mac in German.
System requirements Mac:
PowerPC, 16 MB of RAM.
System requirements PC:
Pentium 75 MHz, Windows 3.1/95/95 (Windows 3.1 with Win32s), sound card,
16 MB of RAM (32 MB recommended)
Common requirements:
3 MB of hard disk space, 4x CD-ROM drive, QuickTime 16-bit.
This is a translation of the README.WRI file found on the PC partition of the CD-ROM:
1. The font "Kulturfahrplan":
Virus scanners or other TSR application may prevent to set up the font "Kulturfahrplan" automaticaly by the application. As a result, the special characters can't be displayed correctly and the line break does not look correctly. You can install the missing font manually:
When using Windows 3.x :
In the Main Group/System Settings, run the Font Manager application. By using "Add", select the font "Kulturfahrplan" found on the CD-ROM in the folder "Dfont" and click "OK". Restart Windows and the "Chronik der Weltgeschichte" displays the text on the screen correctly.
When using Windows 95/98
Open by using "Start/Settings/System Settings" the Font Manager application. Use "File/New Fonts" to install the font "Kulturfahrplan" found on the CD-ROM in the folder "Dfont".
Under certain circumstances, you must delete the font again, up to 2 times). Then, the special characters and the line break whithin the "Chronik der Weltgeschichte" will be displayed correctly.
2. QuickTime
To display pictures and show movies, "Chronik der Weltgeschichte" required a 16-bit version of QuickTime. This will be optionally installed by the Setup application. In case a 32-bit version is already installed (2.1.2.59 or 3.0+), the "Chronik der Weltgeschichte" requires to each case a 16-bit Version of QuickTime. It can co-exist with a 32-bit version of QuickTime.
To prevent conflicts between driver software of a few graphics card and QuickTime, "Chronik der Weltgeschichte" will alter the configuration file of QuickTime, "QTW.INI", with the line "Optimize=BMP".
